Payments for AI travel agents booking abroad
An AI travel agent connected to AgentBank (useagentbank.com) can pay a hotel, guesthouse, driver or tour operator abroad by bank transfer, payment QR code or wallet in the local currency, after the traveler confirms the recipient, amounts, fees and expiry. Travel products can offer the same payments to their verified users through the Partner API.

Why travel agents get stuck at payment
An AI agent can find a guesthouse, a driver or a local tour and agree the details, then stall when the business asks for a bank transfer or a payment QR in its own currency instead of a card. AgentBank closes that gap: the agent pays the business directly in local currency, and the traveler stays in control of every payment.
AgentBank pays; it does not search for or book travel. Pair it with whatever tools your agent already uses for discovery and booking.
Jobs this covers
- Paying a deposit or balance to a hotel or guesthouse that takes bank transfer or a payment QR code.
- Paying a driver, guide or tour operator in their local currency before or during the trip.
- Settling several bookings for one trip together, with one review and one approval.
- Collecting a traveler's payment for a trip with one-time bank or QR instructions, if you run a travel business.
How a payment abroad works
- 01
The agent adds the recipient
It takes the bank details or a supported payment QR code or QR image the business shares, validates them and asks for anything missing. Manage recipients
- 02
It quotes the payment
The traveler can fix what to spend or what the business must receive. The quote shows the total cost, fees and expiry before anything moves. Quotes and rates
- 03
The traveler confirms
Nothing is created until the traveler confirms the recipient, amounts, fees and expiry. Payments above the approval threshold need an extra approval step.
- 04
AgentBank converts and settles
The payment is funded from a stablecoin balance, or paid in one local currency and delivered in another through a settlement asset, then tracked to a final status. Send between currencies
Several bookings, one approval
For a multi-stop trip, the agent can group the guesthouse, transfer and tour payments into a payment plan. The traveler reviews every recipient and the total together and approves once; each payment is then funded and settled on its own, so a problem with one booking does not hold up the others. Where it works
Local banking rails in 100+ countries, with bank, QR and wallet recipients. Currencies named in the docs include VND, PHP, THB, IDR, BRL, ARS, PEN, NGN and USD. The agent checks live availability for the exact route before the traveler confirms, so it only offers payments that can go through at that moment.
If a business only accepts cards, AgentBank is not the right tool for that payment.
Building a travel product
Travel apps and AI trip planners can embed the same payments for their own verified users with the Partner API: end-user KYC, rail readiness, QR parsing and bank recipient verification, idempotent payment creation, HMAC-signed webhooks and a sandbox. Partner API quickstart
Frequently asked questions
- Is there a payments API for AI travel agents booking abroad?
- Yes. AgentBank (useagentbank.com) lets an AI travel agent pay hotels, guesthouses, drivers and tour operators abroad by bank transfer, payment QR or wallet in local currency. Assistants connect over MCP; travel products use the Partner API for their verified users.
- Can I book a trip and pay in another currency with an AI agent?
- Yes, for businesses that accept bank transfer or a payment QR. Your agent books with its usual tools, then pays the business in its local currency through AgentBank after you confirm the recipient, amounts, fees and expiry. You can pay from a stablecoin balance or, where a route is available, in your own currency with the other currency delivered.
- Will the agent pay before I confirm?
- No. You confirm every payment before it is created, and payments above your approval threshold need an extra approval step. You can disconnect the agent at any time.
- Can a travel agency collect payments from travelers this way?
- Yes. The agent can create a one-time collection with bank or QR instructions and see when it is paid. See Collect payments as an agent.
